What’s happening with the pilgrimage and coronavirus?

At the moment we anticipate that the Pilgrimage and Gathering will still be going ahead. However, we are closely monitoring government guidelines and will ensure that any decisions made about the Pilgrimage and Gathering will put those attending and their safety first.

Travel – Can I get there by public transport?

Due to the remote nature of the site it is easiest to travel by car however if you need to use public transport we hope this information will help.

By Train
The nearest station is Southminster.
Trains leave from London Liverpool Street throughout the day.
Some are through trains, so you may have to change at Wickford.

Usually the trains are platformed, so the transfer is relatively easy and accommodated in the timetabling. Please choose a train that links to one of the buses listed in the By Bus section below.

By Bus

There are buses from

Southminster to Bradwell-on-Sea (for train connections from London)

Chelmsford to Maldon and Maldon to Bradwell-on-Sea (for coach connections and train connections from the East Anglia Trains)

If you can’t get the direct bus from Southminster, you can get here via the other busses mentioned with a change at Latchington.

Please consult Traveline web site for the latest information.

By Coach

Chelmsford is our nearest town.
Please check the By Bus section for the time tables.

By Taxi

Taxis from Southminster station cost approximately £20, but must be ordered in advance

Local taxi cab numbers are:
Gemini – 01621 786963/0796 7033769
A2B – 01621 773421/07756 083360

Will there be food & drink available on site?

Yes! – We will have a tea, coffee & cake stall near the chapel along with an ice cream van and hot food (probably jacket potatoes) will be available at the Othona community. You will require cash for these as we won’t be able to accept card payments on site.

I need mobility access…what should I do?

The Chapel site is remote and for safety on the day we have limited access to the small chapel car park and are advising people to park at the village hall and either join in the pilgrimage walk or use the shuttle bus service we will be operating.

However, we understand that for some people even the short walk to the chapel from the chapel car park (where the mini bus will drop-off) may be too much.

If you have severe mobility issues please contact us in advance and we can arrange access via the Othona community directly onto the site. Please email hello@bradwellpilgrimage.co.uk

What time will it start and finish?

The Bradwell Pilgrimage and Gathering will begin at 10:30am at St Thomas’ Church in Bradwell-on-Sea. We anticipate the day finishing around 4pm at St Peter’s Chapel.
